On 1 July 2022, the previous founding Managing Director Alfons von Uslar handed over the baton to the previous authorised signatory and Managing Director Dr Dorle Meyer.

Since 2018, von Uslar, who holds a degree in law and is an art lover, has accompanied the start-up phase of the Kunsthaus with his business management and legal knowledge, as well as his experience in real estate and urban development. Since the founding of the gGmbH at the beginning of 2020, he has acted as honorary managing director. “I saw my task as supporting this project – so important for Göttingen and the region – in its early days. Now I have been involved for almost four years, the Kunsthaus has already been open for a year, and it is time to hand over the task to the proven team.”
The new managing director will be Dr Dorle Meyer, a doctor of art history and project manager. After research, exhibition and museum projects in Kassel, Berlin and most recently at the Deutsches Museum in Munich, she returned to Göttingen in 2020 to support the Kunsthaus as an authorised signatory. She closely accompanied the completion of the building, the commissioning of the house as well as the first exhibition year and the realisation of the current documenta partner project.

Meyer is therefore very familiar with the tasks and will continue to manage the business seamlessly. “It’s an exciting house and a great team – so I’m looking forward to the task of further establishing the Kunsthaus as an art anchor in southern Lower Saxony.”

Dorle Meyer

In the sense of a castling, von Uslar and Meyer are initially changing roles: the former founding managing director will remain with the Kunsthaus as an authorised signatory until the end of the year. Only then will he celebrate his farewell.
