Event Details

The opposite of remembrance is not forgetting, it is indifference to one’s own present: for this reason, we are offering the opportunity to talk to the writer Christoph Heubner and the artist Michèle Déodat, who have designed the space “Institute to Remember” for the current documenta partner exhibition at the Kunsthaus, in the “Artist-Special” series of our exhibition “printing futures” on Sunday, 14 August at 2 pm.

The “Institute to Remember” by Christoph Heubner and Michèle Déodat consists of several seemingly autonomous parts, some poems, excerpts from speeches by Kazuo Ishiguro and Simone Veil, a cloth embroidered by children’s hands.

What they have in common is that they do not appear demonstratively, but emotively: the affective, most important confrontation with the past and National Socialism consists above all in many small everyday gestures of remembrance for the victims and of opposition to the heirs of the perpetrators, whose representatives sit in parliaments today.

The exhibition tour and the talk are free of charge.
